Violin made by Jean-Baptiste Colin 1905. LOB 357mm. This is one of the best Colins I have seen. They are always good and excellent sounding, and this one has no single crack, not even a wing crack by the F-hole. The spruce on the top and maple on the back are of Colin-Mezin quality and I have seen many of those that were not as good as this particular Colin. This is an excellent violin with huge intrinsic value and sounds better than many modern Italian violins. This violin was probably sold by the shop in Budapest, Hungary and must have come to this country from an immigrant from that part of the world. It is a very interesting instrument!
