Princeton Violins is happy to collaborate with Maestro ERIC WYRICK, the concertmaster of the New Jersey Symphony and provide a clinic targeted towards preparation for orchestra auditions. We are very excited to provide this opportunity to our musical community and hope it will help young musicians reach their goal of successfully auditioning for orchestra. This event will include mock auditions, work on orchestral excerpts, scales and sight-reading practice strategies. The clinic will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at the Gambrel Room of Scheide Hall, Princeton Theological Seminary (64 Mercer Street, Princeton NJ 08542). We are offering two sessions on the same day (same content) - 2:00PM and 5:00PM, each one will be approximately two hours and fifteen minutes long. You can participate as a performer or audience member. To be considered for performing please email us (info@princetonviolins.com) an "unlisted" YouTube link with the recording of both excerpts (J. Brahms Symphony No.4 Mvt 3 Allegro giocoso mm.1-63, rehearsal C, and F. Schubert Symphony No.2, mvt. 1 Allegro vivace mm.11-64, rehearsal C). Make sure to include your full name and repertoire in the description of your recording.
After reviewing the recordings Maestro Wyrick will select 6 violinist who will be playing during each clinic. Please indicate in the form which session you prefer, but be advised that if one of them is full, you might be asked to attend another one on that same day (first come- first serve basis). A fee for active participation is $75, for Princeton Violins clients $35. Attending as audience member is free, but please still register. After you are selected (we will contact you using email address you have provided) and we have received confirmation of your participation, a link to payment will be sent to you.
Violinist ERIC WYRICK has been Concertmaster of the New Jersey Symphony since 1998. Recently retired from the Orpheus Chamber, Eric had been a member of the internationally acclaimed ensemble for 38 years. As soloist with the NJS. Wyrick has delighted New Jersey audiences with performances of the great violin repertoire ranging from unusual and underperformed works such as the Schumann, Strauss and Busoni violin concertos to presenting the complete Bach Brandenburg Concertos and the Vivaldi Four Seasons as soloist and leader. Wyrick has featured collaborations with contemporary local New Jersey composers Darryl Kubian and Steve Mackey in their solo compositions as well as a special revival of Princeton’s legendary Edward T. Cone Violin Concerto. This season, the collaborative theme continues with a series of performances of Bottesini Gran Duo for bass and violin. During this COVID period, Eric has produced several solo recordings from home, as well as NJSO-presented professional recordings for streaming. Links below.
