A Concert-Level Violin for Advanced Players

Posted by Patrick on 23rd May 2025

I was given the pleasure to experiment with and review the Snow Violin Collection at Princeton Violins. Even though I am currently studying to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree of Computer Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, I have been a violinist for most of my life and have also been playing on the Snow Violin Simona model specifically for the past 7 years. I believe that I come from a standpoint of being somewhat of a violin aficionado and would like to share my expertise and reviews for each of the Snow Violins. After trying them out and comparing them to one another, here is what I have to say about the Snow Simona Violin. The Snow Simona is a true gem, and as I said has been my violin of choice for the past few years. It is a trusty companion for serious violinists, and you are able to express your voice with a warm, articulate projection featuring incredible responsiveness. This violin will help you excel in solo performances, playing in large or small ensembles, and is even great just to practice on. Constructed from master-grade European tonewoods, it is specifically hand varnished so that the violin has a deep tonal resonance and nuanced color, and has a really vibrant golden look to complement the sound. Compared to all the previous Snow Violin models, the Simona gives you the greatest ability to play with the broadest sound range all the while maximizing tonal quality and clarity in practically anything you play. However, it is important to note that this violin isn’t necessarily an easy cheat code to instantly sounding better, it is the type of instrument that you really have to practice and put in the work to fully unlock the potential of its sound. If you are ready to take your sound to new heights, consider trying out the Simona as it is exceptional for the price, and I guarantee you it will be very hard to find an equivalent antique violin for the price.
